The expected number of participants could easily exceed 2000 people. If you have a flashing beacon, use it! There is lots of traffic, both pedestrian and vehicle.
Drive slowly and use extreme caution.
This is a small event, geographically speaking though. It has 3 routes – 1 mile, 3 mile and 5 mile – all around the RBC Center in Raleigh. I have built a GPS file with a small number of waypoints (rest stops, turns, street intersections, etc.) and three routes. No reverse routes this time, the whole thing is small, almost like going around the block. Past experience has been that we rarely run the course backwards.
No changes from last year, so we use the same files.
MSWalk2011.gdb Garmin Database file Ver.3
MSWalk2011.gpx GPS eXchange format (generic)
Route maps:
While most people may not need this one, I put it up anyways. At least it gives waypoints for the rest stops.
If you need to manipulate these files, you should look into a program called GPSBABEL
If you have any questions, let me know.
